Submission and publication

Em Dash Rights is an archive, not a discussion board. Cases do not have comments, likes, ratings or public replies.

Submit only accounts that you genuinely believe to be accurate. Do not knowingly submit false, misleading or materially incomplete information.

Keep identifying details to what is necessary to tell the case. Do not name or otherwise identify students, teachers, staff members or other individuals where the issue can reasonably be described without doing so.

An institution or organisation may be identified where its identity is materially relevant to the case. We may nevertheless remove or generalise identifying details where publication could create unnecessary harm or privacy concerns.

Do not submit private correspondence, confidential records, personal information about another person, or other material that you do not have permission or a lawful basis to provide.

Where a submission makes a serious allegation about an identifiable person or organisation, we may ask for supporting material, additional context or clarification before deciding whether to publish it.

We may decline, edit, shorten, fact-check, anonymise or contextualise a submission where we consider it unclear, unsupported, misleading, unnecessarily identifying, defamatory, invasive of privacy, or outside the scope of Em Dash Rights.

Editing will not intentionally change the substance of a contributor’s account.

Consent

Submitting a story does not automatically mean it will be published.

Publication requires the contributor’s consent to publication. Consent to submit information privately is separate from consent to display a name, institution, document or other identifying information publicly.

A submission may remain unpublished while still contributing to our understanding of patterns, recurring concerns and institutional responses, subject to our Privacy Policy.

Scope

The archive focuses on experiences involving assumptions, accusations, penalties or institutional decisions concerning AI authorship or the use of stylistic features as evidence of AI-generated writing.

It is not a general complaints platform for disputes unrelated to that purpose.

Organisational endorsements

An endorsement made in the name of an organisation must be submitted or confirmed by a person who is authorised to represent that organisation.

We may verify that authority before publishing the endorsement and may decline, amend or remove an endorsement where its authority or authenticity cannot reasonably be established.

Editorial decisions

Publication is an editorial decision, not an entitlement created by submission.

Em Dash Rights may decide not to publish material even where it complies with these guidelines.

Published material may later be corrected, annotated, anonymised, restricted or removed where new information, a privacy concern, a legal complaint or another significant issue warrants review.
