About
What Em Dash Rights is
A movement defending a simple right — to write in your own voice.
What Em Dash Rights is not
We are not claiming that AI-generated writing does not exist.
We are not arguing that questions of authorship should never be investigated.
We are arguing for a narrower principle — writing style alone is not proof.
The work
The site is the movement’s home — people sign a declaration, document cases, invite organisations to endorse the principle, and record institutional change when it can be evidenced.
It is not a forum, a social network or an AI detector. It is not a petition hosted elsewhere.
How people find us
The movement is called Em Dash Rights. It is also written as emdashrights, EmDashRights, and #EmDashRights. The public home is emdashrights.org.
If you arrived looking for the punctuation mark itself — the em dash is not a tell.
Where we are based
Em Dash Rights is an independent initiative based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is not a government agency, regulator, court, university or law firm. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
